Join CMSS and The Madison Hispanic Caucus in welcoming Dr. Abel Chavez to JMU. Abel Chavez is president of Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, Texas. He is a first generation college student, and the son of Mexican immigrants. Dr. Chávez completed his BS in Mechanical Engineering at University of Colorado Denver, an MBA from the University of Houston, and a PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Colorado, Denver. Before becoming president of OLLU, he was the Vice President for Enrollment and Student Success at Western Colorado University.
